The Dog

Meet Pablo

Adventure supervisor, squirrel critic, and the reason most of my plans involve a trail.

A street dog from Rosarito

Pablo started life as a street dog in Rosarito, Mexico, and it shows in the best ways: street-smart, watchful, and completely convinced the world is interesting. He's a heavily mixed breed — shepherd and pit are both in there somewhere; the exact recipe is untested and, honestly, part of the charm.

At roughly 55 pounds with a serious prey drive, Pablo does not do anything halfway. A squirrel is not a distraction; it's a calling. Training him — engagement, recall, and learning that not every moving thing is a work assignment — is my favorite ongoing project.

On the trail

Pablo's natural habitat. If there's elevation to gain and something to smell at the top, he's already packed.

In training

Engagement first, everything else second. High-drive dogs don't need more exercise — they need a job and a conversation.

On the road

RV weekends, desert trips, and anywhere the truck points. Co-pilot duties include window surveillance and snack oversight.
